Kate Vallee is a director, choreographer, and performer currently based in Denver, CO. She serves as the Artistic Director of The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, where she has directed and choreographed numerous acclaimed productions. Her work has been showcased in more than 40 productions across the country, from national tours and regional theaters to Off-Broadway stages.

As a director and choreographer, Kate’s credits include On the Town (Staten Island Philharmonics), 42nd Street (seven productions, including a National Tour and The Rev), A Christmas Carol (Off-Broadway), Shout! (Town Hall Arts), and Mamma Mia! (Destination Productions, WV). At Candlelight, her productions include Anything Goes, White Christmas, Singin’ In The Rain, Anastasia, The Little Mermaid, Always! Patsy Cline, Oklahoma, Curtains, Holiday Inn, Winter Wonderettes, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Kiss Me Kate, and 42nd Street.

Before moving into directing and choreography full-time, Kate built a celebrated career as a performer. She spent four years as a Radio City Rockette, toured nationally with 42nd Street and Funny Girl, and performed at the Goodspeed Opera House in Singin’ in the Rain. She was the Dance Captain for Cirque’s Christmas Dreams, appeared in numerous regional theater productions, and toured internationally with 42nd Street. Kate is also a World Tap Dance Champion, having represented the United States at the World Championships in Germany, where she performed at the German Presidential Gala.

In addition to her theater career, Kate is the Denver Regional Director of The Honey Taps, a vintage performance company specializing in 1920s–40s style dance entertainment. She has also been featured on television and radio with the Rockettes, and performed in industrials and national broadcasts across the country.

As an educator, Kate has over twenty years of experience teaching dance and theater. She has adjudicated national dance competitions, taught master classes worldwide, and served on artistic leadership teams for studios and performing arts academies. Her teaching credits include Broadway Dance Center (NYC), New Dance Group (NYC), The Rock Center for Dance (Las Vegas), Syracuse University, and regional studios across North America. Her youth theater direction includes more than 30 productions, and her competition choreography has received top honors nationally. She is recognized in the Who’s Who of Dance and honored as a Capezio Dance Athlete.

Kate earned her BFA in Musical Theater from Syracuse University. She believes deeply in the transformative power of performance, saying:

“The audience doesn’t come to watch you perform. They come to take the journey with you in their soul. It’s our job as a performer to push aside vanity and be entwined in the moment—only then do we communicate to the soul of our audience.”
